In a moment that has been blown out of proportion by the media, from here to CNN, Ronda Rousey appeared recently on the Ellen DeGeneris show, and said that in the locker room she momentarily experienced suicidal feelings following her loss to Holly Holm. She related that she then looked at your boyfriend, UFC fighter Travis Browne, and the feelings passed.

As always, Twitter reacted, and not always with kindness and understanding.

Other fighters exhibited far more understanding and compassion.

Talk aside, there were 42,773 deaths by suicide in the USA in 2014. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in the United States for 15-24 year olds, and the 10th overall. Worldwide, it is the 3rd leading cause of death in the world for 15-44 year olds. ?Further, there are approximately 25 suicide attempts for every suicide. It is a very real, very dangerous problem.

It has also taken the lives of a number of figures from the MMA community. The non-profit HelpGuide offers further information on the subject.
