There is a stereotype of fighters as being heavily muscled, heavily tattooed, and, well, looking like fighters.

Cris Cyborg looks like a fighter.

Wanderlei Silva looks like a fighter.

Gabi Garcia, shown here with little friend Wanderlei, really looks like a fighter.

However, some fighters don’t look like fighters. Kenny Florian, separated at birth from Ben Stiller, sat down on ‘UFC Now’ with fighter-appearing fighters T.J. Dillashaw and Michael Bisping, and listed their choices for the Top 5 fighters that don’t look like fighters.

#4. Joe Lauzon: The Count says JLau looks like Gollum form Lord of the Rings.

In Lauzon’s defense, he has 13 UFC Performance Bonuses to Bisping’s 5. Plus Lauzon doesn’t look anything like Golum. Batboy, okay maybe a little in the right light, but Golum no way.

#3. Rory MacDonald: There is a reason he’s often referred to as The Canadian Psycho but we’re afraid to say it.

Bisping’s #2 and #1 were his panel mates T.J. Dillashaw and Kenny Florian.

T.J. DILLASHAW’S PICKS

#5. Cole Miller: He looks to be like nothing of a fighter,” said Dillashaw, with some accuracy.

#4. Second time Rory MacDonald makes the list. Someone’s short’s skin may end up being made into a lampshade.

#3. Stefan Struve: Looks more like a basketball player than a fighter. And buddy Demetrious Johnson looks like a jockey. Still, little man is the champ!

#2. Roy Nelson chosen once again. There may be something to this.

#1. Joe Lauzon too makes a second appearance: He doesn’t look like he could throw a punch at all,” said Dillashaw.

KENNY FLORIAN’S PICKS

#5. Michael McDonald: Talk about a baby-faced, young kid. … but an absolute killer.

#4. Dominick Cruz: Lanky and affable, Cruz is revolutionizing footwork in MMA.

#3. Johny Hendricks: Due to his weight yoyoing, Hendricks can look like a world class fighter, or a guy who owns a steak house. He’s both.

#2. Kenny Florian picks Kenny Florian.

#1. Rory MacDonald. So the only guy who made the list for all three wasn’t Roy Nelson, it was Rory.

“The great thing about our job is that we get to solve our problems because we get locked in a cage, and they tell us to fight,” MacDonald said in a 2012 interview. “Sometimes you train so hard and for so long and you only get 15 minutes max of game day for a few times a year. So sometimes it’s nice to spend a little time in there and get hit once or twice or hit him a little more. Sometimes it’s just a little more fun. Sometimes, you just want to hurt someone and devastate their lives fast. But I only react to how I’m feeling that night.”

And for the record, Roy Nelson is a lifelong student of Chinese Martial Arts, with a black belt from Renzo Gracie, an iron chin and fists, with cardio for days. As Aesop’s fables explained a long time ago, appearances can be deceiving.
