Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has a new hunting show called ‘Hit Squad Outdoors’ that debuts tonight, December 29th, at 6pm, on the Pursuit Channel.

Wyatt Roggenkamp spoke with The Maine-iac about the new series for Outdoor Overload.

Wyatt Roggenkamp?: Tim, we hear you have a new hunting show coming out soon. You must be pretty excited about it? Have you always wanted to have your own hunting show, or is this something that came about quickly?

Tim Sylvia: Over the last ten years, I’ve made appearances on various hunting shows, including Drury Outdoors. I thought it would be cool to have my own show. I have some really great sponsors, so that definitely helps. I was approached about the idea at last year’s ATA show. So, the TV network gave me a year’s notice to get the show going and we just finished up the first episode today (December 10th), with the rest of them coming quick.

WR: Who are some people we will be seeing on Hit Squad Outdoors?

TS: A lot of my buddies from the Midwest will be featured, as well as friends of mine like former UFC fighter Rich Franklin!

WR: What kind of hunts can we expect to see on the show? Any particular focus?

TS: There will be a big focus on Midwest whitetail deer, fishing, and some Canada bear hunting action is also in the works!

Look for hunts from Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin.

I want it to be a success by engaging viewers, and promoting active feedback on the show. Also, social media outreach; getting people excited about ‘Hit Squad Outdoors’! I’m excited about the direction everything is going!

The retirement came after a planned fight was cancelled due to issues with required medical tests.

“This is the end of my career, said Sylvia. They said that I’ve received enough damage over 16 years.

Sylvia, who was born and raised in Maine, currently lives in a small farm in Iowa that he bought with his winnings. He works part time as a police officer in Illinois, and is married, with a son.
