The featured heavyweight bout on the main card of UFC 264 pitted Australia’s Tai Tuivasa against former NFL pro-bowler Greg Hardy. In a surprise to no one, this one did not last long.

Tai Tuivasa KOs Greg Hardy in the first round at UFC 264

Early in the fight, “Bam Bam” threw thudding leg kicks that seemed to do damage. However, Hardy still came forward and looked to land strikes on his opponent

Then, less than a minute into the fight, “Prince of War” landed a two-punch combo that wobbled Tuivasa. When he went after him to take advantage of his hurt foe, Tuivasa unleashed a combo of his own, with the second strike hitting the mark. A big left hook landed on the 32-year-old Hardy and floored the big man. Tuivasa, 28, pounced on the one-time Carolina Panther, sealed the deal, and earned a knockout with 3:54 left in the first round.

The win was a third straight for the nine-fight Octagon veteran and may be his most notable yet because of the spotlight that has followed Hardy throughout his UFC run. A matchup with a competitor at the back of the top-15 is something the Aussie has earned in bouncing back from a three-fight losing streak from 2018-2019.

The setback brings Hardy’s record to 7-4 and is his second straight stoppage loss.
