Accusations of domestic violence continue to be a problem that follows the mixed martial arts industry. Yesterday brought news of another claim against the fraternity of MMA fighters.

Priscila Cachoeira accused of multiple instances of assault by ex-girlfriend

MMAFighting reported that Marcelle Nunes, the ex-girlfriend Priscila Cachoeira, was granted a restraining order in Bage, Brazil against the Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight after Nunes pressed charges on Cachoeira on July 7.

In a police report obtained by the site, Nunes accused the five-fight Octagon veteran of three separate instances of assault. The most recent came in February and included a serious hand injury to Nunes that required surgeries.

When asked by the outlet for comment, Cachoeira responded through her management team and denied the accusations.

I’ve never committed any physical assault against Marcelle, she wrote. She would lose control many times during an argument and wanted to hit me, but I just defended myself.

In a police report obtained by the site, the first instance of assault occurred in mid-2019. Nunes claims the 32-year-old grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the ground, and kicked her “all over her body.” She added that Cachoeira only stopped…when she saw blood.

The second allegation was from September 2019, where Nunes claims “Zombie Girl” knocked her unconscious with a punch. The police report notes the victim needed medical assistance to avoid losing a tooth.

The February assault saw Cachoeira allegedly kick Nunes to the body, with the victim claiming her former partner was highly intoxicated and probably on drugs.

Cachoeira’s denies allegations of drug abuse from ex-girlfriend

Nunes spoke with MMAFighting and sent several photographs as evidence of the injuries she’s suffered from the alleged violent encounters with Cachoeira. She accused the UFC talent of marijuana, cocaine, and alcohol use, as well as “very aggressive” behavior whenever she tried to end the relationship.

I slept in fear, Nunes said. Days before I came [to Bage] I told her, ‘Priscila, please, I’m going away, please forget I exist. I’m afraid of you going there and doing something to me.’…My family and friends urged me to press charges and ask for a restraining order. My parents don’t like when I leave the house for any reason. Even though I’m home, I have no peace or security because I don’t know if something will happen to me.

In her statement to the site Cachoeira also responded to Nunes’ allegations of drug abuse.

Our relationship is over and, unfortunately, she’s inventing lies and twisting the truth with the intention of tarnishing my image and emotionally affect me, or any other negative intent, she wrote. I would also like to add that I’m subject to anti-doping tests regularly by [the United States Anti-Doping Agency], therefore her baseless and false allegation seems to me like an attempt to hurt my career.

Cachoeira is on a two-fight winning streak inside the Octagon. Her most recent victory came in May via technical knockout against Gina Mazany.
