In 2016, the UFC was purchased from Zuffa by big time Hollywood talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME) for a staggering 4 billion dollars.
Now Zuffa originally purchased the UFC from SEG in 2001 for 2 million so that’s quite the profit. WME, headed by Ari Emanuel, had some help from a lot of celebrities to fit the bill and there are quite a few big names from various backgrounds on this list.
The following video also includes how much each celebrity has invested in the purchase but those numbers aren’t for sure and for now is just interesting speculation. The list of who the celebrity investors are has indeed been confirmed however and reported by multiple sources and some of the names on the list may surprise you.

Some of the biggest investors on the list include tennis superstars Serena and Venus Williams who reportedly invested as much as 50 million and 75 million each. That’s a lot of dough and a hard to believe figure when their net worth is reported to be 75 million and 150 million for Serena according to google.
Also rounding out the top 5 is actor Sylvester Stallone which makes sense given his obvious life long interest in the fight game and same goes for Mark Wahlberg who is at number 4 on the list. Also, at number 5 is another tennis star in Maria Sharapova who allegedly owns 35 million in UFC shares.
There are also quite a few surprises on the list such as Trey Parker from South Park, late night hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien, Flea and Anthony Kiedis from Red Hot Chili Peppers as well as Tom Brady, Ben Affleck and Rob Dyrdrek among others.

Let’s just hope for all these celebrity’s sake that WME is successful in bringing the sport to the next level and makes good decisions that allow the sport to flourish. Interestingly, also noted at the end is that Conor McGregor will soon own 50 million in equity but that is yet to be officially confirmed.
