UFC Champion Conor McGregor has a long, eerie history of predicting the future in regards to his fights and his career. He just may be the Muhammed Ali of our generation.
In taped pre-fight interview for Cage Rage in 2008 prior to debuting in the UFC, a young Conor McGregor predicted that ‘without a doubt he would be in the UFC in the near future.’ McGregor would debut in the UFC five years later in 2013. He also said he would the UFC champion and he would have more money than he knew what to do with. McGregor became the interim champion in July and undisputed champion at UFC 194. He is rumored to be making tens of millions of dollars per year.
At the post-fight press conference for UFC on Fuel TV in April of 2013, after making his UFC debut, McGregor predicted he would single handedly drive the UFC back to Ireland. A year later, McGregor fought Diego Brandao in the main event of UFC Fight Night 46 in Dublin, Ireland. McGregor also predicted that he would defeat Brandao in the first round, which he did.
At a Q&A event prior to UFC 178, McGregor predicted that Dustin Poirier had a weak chin and he would also put him away in the first round with a KO. McGregor won by first round TKO, less than two minutes into the fight.
In November of 2014, at the ‘Time is Now’ press conference, McGregor was confident by the end of 2015 he would have the highest PPV numbers and highest gate in the UFC. UFC 194 broke the UFC’s gate record with over ten million dollars and will likely be the highest PPV of the year.
In 2014 during an interview, McGregor predicted that he would be scheduled to fight Jose Aldo and that Aldo would pull from the fight. That exact scenario happened when McGregor was scheduled to fight Aldo at UFC 189 in July.
McGregor was rescheduled to fight Chad Mendes for the UFC interim featherweight championship. He predicted he would finish Mendes in the second round. McGregour beat Mendes by TKO at 4:57 of the second round. McGregor was so confident in his prediction he offered to bet UFC owner’s Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta that he would bet them three million dollars it would happen.
In November 2015, McGregor predicted he would knockout Jose Aldo in the first round. A month later at UFC 194, McGregor knocked Aldo out unconscious thirteen seconds into the fight.
