For the first few minutes of the UFC Vegas 30 light heavyweight scrap between Marcin Prachnio and Ike Villanueva, the fight was a back and forth affair as Villanueva tried to march down the Polish fighter. However, as the minutes ticked away, the 32-year-old’s kickboxing style seemed to have an effect on Villanueva as he chopped away at the Houston native’s lead leg.

“Hurricane” had his moments in the round, but the 37-year-old looked to be a few steps behind his younger opponent. He tried to pressure but Prachnio showed good footwork in staying out of the Mexican’s range. A minute into the second round, Prachnio continued to mine the kicking range he discovered in the opening round and unleashed a body kick that instantly buckled Villanueva and led referee Herb Dean to step in and end the fight at 4:04 of the round.

Villanueva has developed a reputation over his 30-fight career as a tough and durable fighter. Meaning, a body kick to send him home early is a worthwhile achievement by Prachnio. The ONE Championship veteran has now won two straight in the Octagon after opening his UFC stint with three consecutive defeats. As for Villanueva, he has now dropped to 1-3 inside the Octagon, and has been KO’d in all three of his losses. Overall it is his sixth knockout setback in 12 defeats.
