The UFC Vegas 41 results from a solid event and a strong main event from inside the UFC APEX can be found below.
In the main event, Marvin Vettori (18-4-1) and Paulo Costa (13-2) put on a heck of scrap over a hard-fought five-round battle.
Despite Costa being viewed as the better and more dangerous striker going into the fight, “The Italian Dream” was able to outbox the Brazilian throughout the bout and survive a fifth-round battering to his body to win by unanimous decision. He was awarded the victory with a score of 48-47 on all three judges’ cards.
The bout between the second-ranked Costa and fifth-ranked Vettori was originally set to be at 185-pounds. A weight class where they challenged division king Israel Adesanya in their most recent fights. However, the Brazilian was nearly 40-pounds above the division’s non-title grace weight when he landed in Las Vegas for fight week.
The bout was then renegotiated to take place at a 195-pound catchweight — with Costa also losing 20% of his fight purse. But on Thursday, that catchweight was also scrapped and the matchup was contested 20 pounds above the duos normal division at light heavyweight.
