In Last Fight, This Fight, Next Fight, we take a look at the two fighters in the main event of the upcoming UFC fight card. You’ll get a crash course in what happened in each of their last fights, a preview of what might happen in this fight, and a prediction of who they’ll fight next depending on who wins and loses. So shut up, sit down and pay attention. You’re about to be force fed some UFC Fight Night 85 knowledge, son!

In the main event, #9 ranked Mark Hunt from New Zealand is fighting #10 ranked American Frank Mir.

In Mark Hunt’s last fight…

…he won a rematch with Antonio Bigfoot Silva by TKO’ing him in the first round. Their first match ended in a draw after 5 rounds, earning them Fight of the Night honors. Mark Hunt is 11-10-1 with 8 wins by KO/TKO.

In Frank Mir’s last fight… …he lost via decision in a tough back and forth battle with Andrei Arlovski. Many members of the media and even UFC President Dana White scored the fight in favor of Mir. Frank Mir is the former UFC Heavyweight Champion and has a record of 18-10.

In this fight… …Mark Hunt will definitely be looking for the knockout punch, since that’s how he picked up 5 of his last 6 wins. Don’t expect Frank Mir to back down from the striking battle though, as he picked up his last 2 wins in the same fashion. If the fight lasts long enough, expect Mir to start looking for a takedown and working his submission game.

Prediction: Mir by submission in Round 2.

Predictions for their next fight…

Mark Hunt

If he wins: Mark Hunt takes on the legend #8 ranked Josh Barnett.

If he loses: The guy is turning 42 in a couple days but claims he wants to keep at it. He matches up well with Todd Duffee or Shawn Jordan (if the UFC can resign him.)

Frank Mir

If he wins: Mir begins what might be his last climb up the ranks and faces #7 Travis Browne.

If he loses: His timeline should match up well to take on the loser of the Gonzaga / #14 Magomedov fight.

Wild Card: Brock Lesnar comes back and we get a trilogy fight at UFC 200!
