Ovince Saint Preux took a fight with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, on only three weeks notice, saving UFC 197, when current champion Daniel Cormier injured his leg. OSP gamely went the distance with Jones, earning a moral victory of sorts.

Afterwards, as he was exiting the Octagon, Jones made a rude gesture towards Cormier, who was sitting Octagon side.

Jones has long attempted to maintain a facade as a high-principled, Christian, martial artist. In 2009, Jones was asked what career path he was on before he found MMA.

“I was studying criminal justice and I wanted to be a law enforcement officer in my hometown – Endicott, New York, man,” said Jones to Sherdog. “I thought it would be so cool to be a hometown police officer. I’ve always been a person who tries to do the right thing in life, for the most part. I’m no angel, but I was always the kid who snitched on the kids who had pot. I don’t want to offend the pot smokers out there, but I was kind of just a snitch. I was just down for people doing the right thing. My parents kind of raised me to be a good guy.”

However he was raised, the truth of Jon Jones is far more complex than “good guy.”

Jones spoke with Megan Olivi after the fight, and learned that his opponent is believed to have suffered a broken arm. Fighters characteristically exhibit concern for a fighter if an injury occurs; Jones had a different reaction. ‘Bones’ instead flashed a huge grin, danced a little dance, and said on that note he was going off to celebrate.
