UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm was exiting the Canelo vs. Cotto prizefight in Vegas this weekend, and spoke briefly with FightHype.com about Floyd Mayweather who she met just days before a Clippers NBA game.

“It was awesome,” said Holm, who is herself a former world boxing champion. “Just to be able to meet one of the great … I mean one of the great – the greatest of all time, you know. He’s the only one that’s ever been able to do it undefeated.”

Mayweather agrees! His top five list is:
1. Floyd Mayweather
2. Roberto Duran
3. Pernell Whittakear
4. Julio Cesar Chavez
5. The Greatest

Mayweather responded graciously to Holm’s comments, via Twitter.

Floyd Mayweather @FloydMayweather
I want to thank @hollyholm for the kind words. Congrats on your success. Please follow @hollyholm

Technically speaking, Holm was factually incorrect.

The list of boxing champions who have retired undefeated includes:
Joe Calzaghe;
Ricardo Lopez;
Rocky Marciano; and,
Jack McAuliffe, who retired in 1893.

Of the bunch, Ricardo Lopez was the most skilled. And Rocky Marciano? Let’s turn to the experts at My-T-Sharp.

“There they go, every time I start talkin ’bout boxing, a white man got to pull Rocky Marciano out their ass. That’s their one, that’s their one. Rocky Marciano. Rocky Marciano. Let me tell you something once and for all. Rocky Marciano was good, but compared to Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano ain’t $#!^.”
