Carla Esparza was the first every women’s strawweight champion after winning the first ever all women’s season of the Ultimate Fighter. After losing her title in 2015, Esparza took more than a year off, but recently made her triumphant return to the Octagon, defeating Juliana Lima at UFC 197.
Not only total badasses in the cage, Esparza and her best friend and fellow UFC fighter Felice Herrig enjoy having fun outside the cage. The two are well known to play jokes, kid around, and sometimes show off their ‘assets’ on social media.
In this video posted today by Esparza, herself, Herrig and a friend have an interesting contest in the gym:
About Carla Esparza
TRAINING: I get about 3 workouts a day in. It varies from day to day. One session in the am, a run or strength & conditioning, then my last session at night.
When and why did you start training for fighting? In between wrestling season I started training jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai which I loved, then when I found out about MMA. It just made sense for me.
What ranks and titles have you held? First Invicta FC strawweight champ

About Felice Herrig
TRAINING: My days vary… My coaches set me up with a pretty regimented schedule each week so one day might be no gi, pads and strength and conditioning. Another day might be wrestling, live MMA drills with pad work. Another might be gi, S&C and sparring. I’m usually in the gym 2 to 3 times a day with one day off a week.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started kickboxing in 2003 out of high school because it was a sport I could still compete in after high school. What ranks and titles have you held? I had various IKF, and WAKO kickboxing and Muay Thai titles. Blue belt in BJJ
Do you have any heroes? None
