Former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey was born on February 1, 1987 in Riverside, Calif., so she turns 29 today!
Taylor Weatherby commemorated her bday by taking a look back at her whirlwind year.
Ronda started out her insane year continuing her winning streak with an epic takedown of Cat Zingano at UFC 184. She defeated Cat in just 14 seconds, marking her fastest win ever! Thanks to that big win and her undefeated record, Ronda was named Best Female Athlete and Best Fighter at the 2015 ESPY Awards in July. She even made history as the first MMA fighter to cover The Ring boxing magazine!
Ronda got a bit of a wake-up call when her undefeated record was broken by Holly Holm in UFC 193 on November 14. Despite Ronda being favored to win the fight, Holm won via KO at the 59-second mark of the second round. Ronda’s loss was as shocking to the world as it was to her.
Rousey’s loss ironically ended her feud with Floyd Mayweather. She and Floyd had some bad blood earlier in the year, but he was one of the first to send his support to Ronda, saying You win some, you lose some. Even Holm had some nice things to say about Ronda, and now they’re set to meet again in a rematch some time this summer.
Outside of the ring, Ronda also got to show off her humorous side as the host of SNL on January 23 — and nailed it! Her love life is doing better than ever too. She has been dating fellow UFC fighter Travis Browne for several months now, and there are plenty of PDA pics to prove that Ronda is still super happy with her man!
She also invaded Hollywood in the last year, with a role in Furious 7, and two further roles coming up, in Mile 22 and a lead in Road House.
