For the last year multi-divisional UFC champion Conor McGregor and pound for pound boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr have engaged in a strange and surprising war of words to drum up interest in a fight that still doesn’t look any closer to becoming reality.

Although Conor’s boxing ability within the context of MMA has been lauded and resulted in a myriad of highlight reel knockouts, the chances of him being successful against Mayweather Jr in a boxing match on paper are relatively slim.

The latest person to chime in on the Boxing vs MMA debate is the father of the pound for pound king; Floyd Mayweather Sr who appeared on FightHub TV giving his take on the Irishman’s skills.

I think Conor McGregor is a talker and not a doer. Whatever he did in MMA, they not going to let him get away with all that stuff [in boxing].”

Having not seen Conor’s latest performance against Eddie Alvarez he reviewed some footage and did offer some praise although still remained firm on his stance on the outcome of a potential bout with Floyd.

I don’t think his fundamentals are bad, but you gotta understand his fundamentals ain’t up there with the man (Floyd Jr) either. My son’s gonna cut his beard for him.”

With Conor getting a boxing license and reportedly taking some time away from the UFC, will this super fight actually come to fruition? Only time will tell.

Floyd Mayweather Sr. (born October 19, 1952) is an American former professional boxer and current boxing trainer. Fighting at welterweight during the 1970s and 1980s, Mayweather Sr. was known for his defensive ability and overall knowledge of boxing strategy. He is the father and trainer of five-division boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., and is credited for teaching his son the defensive skills that made him a champion. [source : wiki]
