On today’s episode of UFC Tonight, the UFC made official the rumored rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, which will take place at UFC 200:

UFC 200 has officially booked two huge fights at the top of the card as Conor McGregor will face Nate Diaz in the main event and Frankie Edgar battles Jose Aldo for the interim featherweight title on July 9 in Las Vegas.

The announcement was made via “UFC Tonight” on Wednesday. The rematch will also take place at 170 pounds.

The long rumored rematch between McGregor and Diaz takes place just a few months after their first fight broke pay-per-view records at UFC 196 in early March.

The UFC also made official a featherweight interim title fight between Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo was announced for UFC 200:

With McGregor tied up in a second fight with Diaz, the featherweight division will now crown an interim champion on the same night at UFC 200.

Edgar, who is widely considered the top ranked contender in the division, will face former champion Jose Aldo with the winner walking away as the new interim king at 145 pounds.

Edgar actually fell to Aldo in a close decision in his first fight at featherweight back in 2013 but since that time the former lightweight champion has won five fights in a row to position himself atop the division.

Aldo will return to action for the first time since losing to McGregor at UFC 194, which was the first time he suffered a loss in nearly a decade. Now Aldo will attempt to earn a rematch with McGregor while wrapping a title back around his waist at the same time.
