UFC President Dana White doesn’t believe in accepting help from the government and it’s why he isn’t in favor of the current White House regime’s hopes to offer things like free pre-school and community college.
A constant news story in Washington, DC throughout the last few months, is if US President Joe Biden can come to an agreement with Senate Democrats on the reconciliation part of his “Build Back Better” plan. The bill could very well include free pre-school for American children, free community college for teens looking to avoid massive tuition debt and even lower health care costs.
However, the concept of free public works plans doesn’t jive with the do-it-yourself style of the UFC boss. In an interview with “>FOX News last week, ahead of the promotion’s UFC 268 event in New York City, he was asked if a capitalist society can work in co-operation with the aforementioned — and arguably necessary — public works when there is a sizable government debt on the books. And in the Boston native’s opinion, free isn’t free, and the government is never really going to help out the little guy.
Dana White feels Americans should take of themselves, not get government help
“There’s no such thing as free. There’s no such thing as free, and you should know by now the government is never going to take care of you. Ever. You need to take care of yourself. You need to get out there. There’s 11 million jobs, get out there and take care of yourself. The government is never gonna do it. And that’s why I wasn’t waiting for through the pandemic. I wasn’t gonna sit around and wait for the government to take care of me or my people,” White said.
“… I’m an American. That’s how I grew up. We don’t hide from things. We take things head-on. We figure out solutions to problems. That’s just not the way I was brought up. I’m a big believer in the American dream. It’s real. I am living it right now. This country isn’t perfect, and it never will be, but it’s about as good as you can get when you compare it to what’s out there.”
There is some truth to what White says. And handling one’s own business is an admirable quality preferred by most. However, massive college debts, the exorbitant costs of health care in the US, and the growing income divide as many American parents try to make ends meet do make certain assistance from the government extremely beneficial. As long as the US debut does not continue to climb in the wrong direction.
The UFC boss says the tide has changed in public opinion on COVID strategies

During the conversation, White was asked about current COVID-19 vaccine mandates and the situation as federal, state, and local governments continue to battle the virus. He felt that the tide was starting to turn on public opinions in how current strategies are going and it showed in recent elections. And that even politicians who were in favor of previous guidelines are having a change of heart.
“I even see some people on the crazy liberal side now starting to go, ‘Whoa, whoa, what are we doing here?’ I think everyone’s starting to notice things aren’t working. Things aren’t the way they used to be,” he said.
That notion has only emboldened him and his decisions to go full steam ahead through the pandemic as the promotion has grown “exponentially” despite COVID’s effects on many sports having public gatherings. It is why he holds strong to his resolute choice to not mandate his fighters to get vaccinated if they don’t want to.
“My fighters can get vaccinated or not. We’re not forcing people to get vaccinated. I believe as an American it’s your choice if you want to get vaccinated. It’s your body. This is a free country, you do what you want,” said White.
