This weekend, Ultimate Fighting Championship’s featherweight king Conor McGregor will move up to 170lbs to face Stockton, California’s foul-mouthed Nate Diaz in a short notice welterweight scrap after 155lb lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos was forced to withdraw from his bout with McGregor due to a broken foot he suffered in training.
As fortunate mixed martial arts fans may be to have such an interesting matchup (both in terms of style and personality) coming down the pike, it’s almost unfortunate that the fight is happening on short notice, and depriving us all of what may possibly been the best couple months of back and forth trash talking the sport has ever seen.
Ultimate Fighter Season 5 winner and UFC mainstay Nate Diaz, who fights out of Cesar Gracie’s Fight Team, is as willing as anyone to trade verbal barbs with his opponents. Leading up to a fight, during the fight, or after the fight, it doesn’t really matter to Nate. He gives it to his opponents raw, and there are few mixed martial artists prepared to deal with it.
One man who has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind or belittling his opponents, Conor McGregor has already begun enjoying the exchange of insults he and Nate Diaz have begun volleying back and forth.
While Conor McGregor may have nothing to say that will truly impact how Nate approaches their upcoming fight, Diaz may still be well served to study the following video of McGregor’s best trash talking moments, so that he doesn’t fail to realize what he’s up against.
