UFC’s aptly titled series, The Thrill and the Agony, is a new series that was launched by the UFC to provide viewers with the opportunity to delve behind the scenes and relive the glory and anguish experienced by fans, fighters, their teams and even family members.

The scene is set after the bouts come to conclusion and aim to capture the pandemonium that ensues. With two major upsets in both the main and co-main event at UFC 196 on March 5th in Las Vegas, there was no shortage of post-fight drama.

In the main event, Nate Diaz scored a second-round submission victory by way of rear naked choke— defeating UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor in a non-title welterweight bout. Diaz’s corner, comprised of Jake Shields, Kron Gracie, Richard Perez and Yancy Medeiros, explode into a state of elation during the closing moments of the fight and join together afterwards for a ceremonious photo-op with the bloodied but victorious Diaz.

McGregor’s immediate family and girlfriend, Dee Devlin, are understandably distraught following the loss. Conor’s father, Tony McGregor, immediately motions towards the grieving Devlin to console her after the stoppage. McGregor himself can be seen taking to the stands after the bout to comfort the shaken Devlin. It’s all good. It’s all good, reassures McGregor as he embraces his long-time companion.

In the co-main event, Meisha Tate also secured a rear naked choke submission victory— besting Holly Holm to claim the coveted UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title after rallying from behind in dramatic fashion in the fifth and final round.

Her boyfriend and trainer, Bryan Caraway, is seen beaming with pride and excitement post-fight: There’s no other feeling like this in the entire world […] It’s about the greatest moment of my life.
