Conor McGregor is not your average mixed martial artist.

McGregor made his way to the top by fighting for various promotions all over Europe before entering the UFC Bantamweight division.

Now, these sorts of smaller leagues promotions sometimes serve a career launching pad purpose for a lot of young up-and-coming mixed martial artists, but the reality is it is a hard struggle to make it to the top.

Injuries happen. You get knocked out. Life happens. S**t happens.

McGregor, though, has always strived to make a successful career in mixed martials, and judging by his awe-inspiring performances in the promotions he fought in before the UFC, it was clear the guy could have a really successful future if he kept going that way.

It is then an understatement to say McGregor carried a lot of hype before joining the UFC. The guy did not only win fights, he did so in a way very few people had done so, ever.

Check out these Instagrams from Conor McGregor as he prepares for Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196:

Besides his crisp boxing technique which earned him many brutal KOs, the most striking thing about McGregor is the way he moves and strikes, his understanding of the stand up game.

See, the kind of footwork McGregor is displaying, as well as his ability to find angles and hit with great accuracy, is something very few people in MMA have managed to do, ever.

After winning the UFC Bantamweight championship by knocking out former pound-for-pound kingpin José Aldo in just 13 seconds, Conor McGregor was at the top of the game.

Yet, the man always seeks new challenges. He strives for greatness. He craves new heights.

That kind of unprecedented, victory-driven mindset is what made him challenge current UFC Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

Now, dos Anjos is no joke. He might very well be among the 3 best fighters in the world, pound-for-pound….

You know the saying, though : ‘Train hard, fight easy.’

What is amazing is that the kind of training regimen McGregor is putting himself through for his UFC 196 title bout covers basically all facets of MMA, with a big emphasis on fluid and evasive movement, his trademark, something most fighters take too lightly.

The video is a pretty good indicator about McGregor’s motivation, and you can see he is dead serious about the possibility of becoming only the second man to hold two belts simultaneously.

I don’t know about you, but as for one I can’t freaking wait for Conor McGregor vs Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 196!
