This video features the Notorious Conor McGregor at a radio promotional gig. He is at the Cruz Show on Power 106 FM in Las Vegas. This was published in March 2015 so it likely took place in the buildup to McGregor’s fight with MMA legend Jose Aldo.
Cruz, the head of the show asks MCGregor if he would wrestle a member of the show known as “Todd the hater.” McGregor accepts and everyone is surprised. Arm wrestling is used as a show of masculinity, but because it is not indicative of real fight skills there is actually a possibility that McGregor would lose. So it’s pretty significant that he accepts the challenge.
Todd goes over and sits across from McGregor and they lock hands in the traditional way. Todd says he’s right handed and so the lefty McGregor concedes to have a right on right battle. An assistant moves the microphone out of the way, Cruz counts them down with “Three, two, one!” and they begin.

They start off wrestling but the hands don’t move. Todd says “I don’t think he’s trying yet.” Cruz says, “Hey Conor, just finish him.” Conor looks to be holding back. He looks up and says “It’s a game of efficiency.” Then Conor really turns it on and begins pushing Cruz’s hand down. In doing so he lifts his elbow off the table though.
Then he drops his elbows back down and begins pulling Todd’s elbow across the table, extending his hand away from the body, weakening it. The spectators are confused. Cruz says “Wait this isn’t even arm wrestling anymore. What is this?”

Then eventually with some effort Conor collapses the arm and wins with a shout. Afterwards McGregor reveals his strategy, saying he was just holding at first waiting for Todd to tire.
