Chuck Liddell is the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion as well as legendary mixed martial artist. A true knockout artist who took the sport to new levels and took on all comers. In his prime he was one of the most feared strikers in the sport and knocked out just about everybody he fought. From legends like Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz to guys like Alistair Overeem, Renato Sobral, Kevin Randleman and many other poor souls, they all fell victim to Liddell’s devastating punching power.

So if anyone is qualified to show us some striking skills and techniques it’s Chuck ‘The Iceman’ Liddell. And with him helping out is current top ranked light heavyweight and longtime training partner Glover Teixeira.

The first technique he goes over is a left hook/uppercut to the body (also known as the liver shot). He stresses the important or not only angling the punch upwards but making sure your body is in proper position so you don’t move into any counter-shots.

The next technique he goes over is his trademark overhand punch that looks more like he’s pitching a fastball than throwing a punch. This is the exact same strike he used to knock out Overeem in PRIDE FC so you’ll want to pay attention to this one. Once he shows the full power of this technique on the pads it is pretty damn impressive.

It’s no wonder Overeem was done after Chuck landed it in their fight.

What’s even more impressive is that he was able to knock out Overeem with that shot and it landed on his forehead . The forehead of the skull is actually quite thickly armored bone and not the typical place knockout shots land (such as the jawline, temple, behind ear, etc.) but it is such a powerful strike it didn’t matter.

On July 10th, 2009 Chuck Liddell was inducted in the UFC of Fame.
