But when it was all over, Bisping walked away the new champion:

Rockhold with his lead hand low, and he fires out a jab. Bisping in the center. Rockhold kicks the legs. Bisping works his jab a bit. Rockhold wading forward, looking very unconcerned. Bisping busy with his jab, and Rockhold kicks the body. Firefight briefly, and Rockhold lands a stiff left. Bisping moving well on the outside. Rockhold just seems completely unconcerned with anything his opponent might have. He kicks the body and leg. They trade punches, and Bisping lands a right hand. He sneaks in a left, as well. Rockhold continues to kick the body. Bisping tries to attack but eats a counter right. Left hand for Bisping. Rockhold is hurt. Bisping tags him again, and Rockhold crashes to the floor. Bisping jumps on top, and that’s it. Amazing.

In an awesome moment after the fight, Bisping ran into Jacare Souza in the audience. Souza might just be the man who Bisping first defends his title against:

About Luke Rockhold
He might look like a laid-back Californian, but Luke Rockhold has proven to be one of the UFC’s most fearsome competitors – a top-ranked middleweight with a string of impressive victories and an eye on the title.
Since joining the UFC in 2013, Rockhold has scored wins over such notable fighters as Costas Philippou, Tim Boetsch, Michael Bisping and Lyoto Machida, the last three by submission. He previously enjoyed a nine-fight win streak in Strikeforce, capturing that organization’s middleweight title and totaling the most submission wins in its history.
Rockhold grew up in an athletic family. His father, Steve, played professional basketball in Europe, and his older brother, Matt, is a well-known professional surfer. Luke surfed the breaks in his hometown of Santa Cruz, Calif., and also skateboarded, but he didn’t find his passion until he took up jiu-jitsu and decided to try mixed martial arts.

About Michael Bisping
TRAINING: Wake up, eat my oatmeal and hit the gym in the morning and in the evening. Always a mixture of boxing / kickboxing, wrestling, jiu-jitsu and sparring. Plus weights and circuit training twice a week..
When and why did you start training for fighting? I’ve been doing martial arts since I was 8 years old, but I started training for mixed martial arts specifically in the summer of 2003. I had done kickboxing and jiu-jitsu for years, but I took it up as a career in 2003. I had a lot of jobs but I had never been happy in anything I did. So when I did this, it was the best thing I’ve ever done in my life – I’ve never been happier and so far things have been going really well.
