The impact of strikes in mixed martial arts can sometimes be lost on the audience, especially when the recipient is able to shrug it off. But when you slow things down, like Fight Motion goes, the brutality of it becomes apparent the heart of the fighters can really be witnessed.
As they do for most major shows, the UFC today released it’s ‘Fight Motion’ for UFC 205 which features incredible moments from some of the night’s biggest fights.
In two titles fight, Joanna Jedrzejczyk versus Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Stephen Thompson versus Tyron Woodley the champions and challengers battered in each other for a full five rounds, totaling twenty-five minutes in the Octagon.
When it was over, both Jedrzejcyzk and Woodley retained their UFC titles.
In the main event, Irishman Conor McGregor made history by defeating Eddie Alvarez to gain the lightweight title, on top of already claiming the UFC featherweight title as well.
Alvarez was the reigning defending champion and was coming off an impressive TKO of Rafael Dos Anjos to win the title, but Conor McGregor made the fight look easy. He was consistently able to beat Alvarez to the punch and ended the fight in the second round.

Round 1 – Alvarez with an early low kick. A second trips McGregor, and he just avoid a big right hand. Alvarez chopping away at McGregor’s lead leg in the wide stance. Alvarez bouncing, moving, as McGregor walks forward and reaches with the right. He lands a left, and Alvarez drops. McGregor pounces, but Alvarez scrambles up. McGregor again patient in the center, calms and pawing the right. Alvarez moves forward, and McGregor agains lands the left hand, sending the lightweight champ to the floor. He gets up, but McGregor lands another straight left. It’s another knockdown. Incredible. McGregor follows to the floor. Alvarez using the legs to try and keep space. McGregor trying to clear them and scores with the left. Alvarez scrambles up, and McGregor again times a left hand. McGregor with a high kick. He seems incredibly unconcerned wit Alvarez at this point. McGregor using the long left hand. Less than a minute. McGregor just teeing up the left hand and firing it when he pleases. Alvarez showing his durability and throwing haymakers. McGregor blocks a high kick and slips a right hand. Round ends o the feet, and MMAjunkie gives it to McGregor, 10-8.
Round 2 – Alvarez with an early kick to the body. He’s aggressive and firing out the right hand. McGregor patient on the outside and again scores the big left. McGregor taunts his opponent and puts his hands behind his back. He fires a low kick. Alvarez loading up on the right. McGregor slips one and lands another left hand that sees Alvarez topple to the floor. He pops up and pushes into the clinch. McGregor defends against the cage, eventually pushing away. McGregor with a few quick jabs. The left scores. More come behind it. A flurry of big shots, and Alvarez hits the deck. McGregor jumps on top, and more punches land.
