With the new UFC video game having just been released, we found it only fitting to have a throwback to a simpler time: EA UFC 1. You know, back when both fighters didn’t even have to necessarily be in the cage to fight each other. And no, we don’t mean some N64 WWF Attitude crap where you get to whack each other with a chair from the crowd. This game had some serious glitches in the beginning. Let’s not take anything away from EA UFC, it was a pretty solid game. It even earned an 8/10 from Game Informer.

But them glitches though! These weren’t some half-assed, “I totally jumped on that red turtle shell but somehow I still lost my mushroom and I’m really bummed about it because now I can’t get the fire flower and this level is nearly impossible without it,” glitches. These were, “I just paid 60 dollars for the most advanced sport fighting game ever, yet for some reason every time I try to clinch my opponent, he vaults three feet into the air and hovers there with his junk pressed against my pectoral muscle,” caliber glitches. And let’s be honest here, that’s just not cool. Personally, I never experienced any of these glitches in EA UFC 1, but I’m sure as hell glad that the Tommy Toe Hold Show got a hold of them.

Let’s not forget the original pioneer that started all of this though, “Ultimate Fighting Championship” for Sony Playstation and Sega Dreamcast. This video game was an absolute gem. Most fights ended within thirty seconds via brutal knockout. Plus, did you know if you leveled up a custom fighter that you eventually got to fight against Big John McCarthy? Yea, that’s totally true. And Big John was a mega badass. I highly recommend finding yourself a copy and taking a trip back to some of the glory days of Chuck Liddell and Kevin Randleman (rest in peace.)
