He is one of those most popular and talented figures of the sport and this weekend UFC Hall of Famer and former Lightweight and Welterweight champion BJ Penn will end almost two year hiatus to make his UFC return to hopefully make his way up the featherweight ladder and and hopefully contest for his third UFC divisional belt.

After becoming the first non-Brazilian to win the World Jiu Jitsu Championships in the black belt division (after getting his black after only three years of training) in 2000, Penn made his mixed martial arts debut at UFC 31 getting a TKO victory of Joey Gilbert in the first round, proving he was more than just a BJJ stylist.

Since then Penn’s career has been both thrilling and gruesome and in the following video UFC commentator Joe Rogan counts down BJ Penn’s Ultimate 8 moments in the UFC.

Ranging his upset victory of then welterweight kingpin Matt Hughes to his extremely, bloody submission over Joe Stevenson to claim the lightweight strap.

What are you favorite BJ Penn moments, check out the countdown below.

Jay Dee “B.J.” Penn(born December 13, 1978) is an American professional mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. Penn debuted and competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and later in K-1. Prior to fighting for the UFC, he became the first American Gold medallist of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. In mixed martial arts, Penn has competed in the Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight divisions. As a former UFC Lightweight Champion and UFC Welterweight Champion, he is one of only three fighters in UFC history to win titles in multiple weight classes.

Credited as the greatest Lightweight combatant in mixed martial arts history, Penn’s domination of the division, as well as his performances in higher weight classes have him regarded as one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport.[Source: Wiki]
