In this day and age, you have to be as skilled in the cage as outside of it if you want to have a successful MMA career. Ronda Rousey has understood that, and that’s why she has become one of the biggest MMA superstars ever.
Rousey is also well-known for being really outspoken. They say there is no such thing as bad publicity, and Rousey took the adage at heart by often going out of her way to claim, let’s be honest, ludicrous things.
Now, that is all fine when you’re riding a phenomenal win-streak; many people wouldn’t even flinch at most of Rousey’s crazy claims because she was such a powerhouse. Things get a little bit trickier when you’ve been knocked out in brutal fashion though. Have a look at the 5 most baffling things Ronda Rousey has ever said; these claims were a big part of her out of the cage personality and mystique, but they’ve come back to haunt her since her loss to Holly Holm.
5) “I could beat 100% of UFC men’s bantamweights.”
Wondering if Ronda Rousey could beat men became a topic among fans and observers in the last couple years. People love controversy, and it looks like their curiosity didn’t get satisfied quite yet with the freakshows MMA is known to have featured over the years so they, of course, started wondering if Rousey could beat male UFC bantamweights.
Long story short: no, she cannot. Ronda Rousey is amazing at what she does, but there is a reason why women don’t fight men in the UFC.

4) “I would love to have the chance to become a jiu-jitsu world champ.”
Rousey stated in an interview in late 2015 that she thought she could become a jiu-jitsu world champion. Now, Rousey’s judo IS phenomenal, no doubt, and having a great judo base is really helpful when transitioning to jiu-jitsu. But the thing is, while Rousey was busy polishing her judo skills over the years, the current elite of the grappling scene was busy working on their jiu-jitsu.
It’s highly unlikely that a jiu-jitsu world champ would become a Judo world champ, and it’s the same the other way around.

3) Ronda Rousey believes she can beat Cain Velasquez
So Ronda Rousey has stated that she could beat 100% of the UFC men’s bantamweights, which is a HUGE stretch already, but she also said she could take on none other than former UFC Heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez. Here’s what she had to say to Hoy newspaper in late 2013: “In any given moment, under the right circumstance, I think it is possible. Um, if by ‘right circumstance’ she meant ‘while Velasquez is blindfolded and has his hands tied behind his back’, then sure.

2) “I can beat anyone on this planet.”
Believe it or not, Ronda Rousey did claim more ludicrous things than the above entries. Case in point: the following statement she made in August of last year: I fight for a living. In a no rules fight, I believe I can beat anyone on this planet.” Well, yikes. Nope, Ronda, you’re not beating Robbie Lawler or Mark Hunt, sorry!

1) Rousey believes she can become a boxing world champ
When Ronda Rousey was winning left and right in amazing fashion many people thought she was unbeatable. And not only in MMA, mind you. Many fans legitimately sided by Rousey when she claimed that she could become a BOXING world champion. Now, again, Rousey’s grappling skills are elite.
If you have ever seen her strike, though, you might know that she is not the best striker in the world, to say the least. Her poor performance against Holly Holm, a former boxing world champion, definitely crushed Rousey’s claim that she had what it takes to become a boxing world champ in brutal fashion.
