To most mixed martial arts fans, Joe Rogan is simply a commentator for live events, but Rogan himself is actually a very accomplished martial arts. Rogan is not only a black belt in Taekwondo, but also a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and black belt in the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu system.

In this clip, Joe Rogan teaches the technique behind an explosive side kick and spinning side kick with world renowned trainer Duane ‘Bang’ Ludwig.

Rogan began training in taekwondo at an early age and earned his black belt at the age of fifteen. He competed in his home state of Massachusetts and was a multiple time full contact state champion.

Shortly after the debut of the UFC, Rogan began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Carlos Gracie and later with Eddie Bravo. He has attained a black belt in Bravo’s system of no-gi jiu-jitsu and also a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado.
