There are a few things in life that my father taught me that are very critical to the quality of life that I have become accustomed to. One is to never disrespect or treat someone who prepares your food in an unkind manner and another is to never disrespect or treat your mechanic in an unkind manner.

I will most definitely pass these lessons on to my children and the video below provides another one of these life lessons: never commit a criminal act near or around a martial arts school, especially a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school!

In the video below we see the aftermath of an alleged assault that took place in front of a Brazilian jiu jitsu school. It seems that the two men being detained were attempting to rob an elderly woman in front of a bjj academy and the lower ranked belts decided to take action and to teach these thugs a lesson!

It is unclear exactly what happened before the footage begins to role but the aftermath is clear: one man is bloodied, while the other is being restrained by not one but two of the bjj students. This act of valor does not only show the character of those individuals involved but that of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well. This is display of honor and integrity that represents the true nature of bjj.

The lesson to be learned here is that committing a criminal act is just that…criminal, but furthermore, if one is going to commit an act that is against the law, particularly assault, it would behoove them to not engage in this kind of activity in or around a martial arts school especially a Brazilian jiu jitsu school that is having a training session!
