Academy award winning actor Nicolas Cage, 52, is a long-time BJJ student of the legendary Royce Gracie. He recently had to put his skills to use in Las Vegas.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday in front of the Aria hotel on the Vegas strip, a fan reportedly approached Cage and requested an autograph. At this point, Vince Neil allegedly moved behind the woman, seized her by the hair, and dragged her to the ground. Neil, 55, is best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Mötley Crüe.

Nic’s real surname is Coppola; his uncle is famed director Francis Ford Coppola. He changed his name early in his career to avoid the appearance of nepotism. The new surname, Cage, was inspired by the Marvel superhero Luke Cage. BJJ trained and named for a superhero, it is no surprise that Luc leapt into action.

It was described by TMZ as a “huge physical fight.” This is an accurate description, if you have never seen a fight.

However, Cage did react legally and to good effect. He secured a headtie and an overhook, and moved to a T avoid any potential counters.

Then, while maintaining physical control, he used verbal Jiu-Jitsu.

“STOP THIS S*** NOW,” he yelled. Then, less loudly, without letting him go, he said “I love you.”

And cut.

Neil was cited for battery by the police for the alleged assaulted on the woman. A Las Vegas police spokesperson confirmed to Rolling Stone that Neil was under investigation after the woman told police that Neil came up from behind and grabbed her by the hair. Police who responded to the scene cited Neil for misdemeanor battery but did not arrest him.

According to Reuters, if convicted, Neil faces six months in prison stemming from the battery charges. In 2011, the singer was charged with battery and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident with an ex-girlfriend at a theatre; the battery charge was dropped and Neil avoided jail time after he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.
