There are very few of us in the world who have successfully navigated our way through life without ever having the displeasure of dealing with, or witnessing the violence and negativity of a bully. Bullies seem to exist throughout all walks of life, from when we are young children just entering school all the way to adulthood, where bullies tend to take a more psychological and less physical approach.

Indeed, although we stay in martial arts for the challenge, for character development, for conditioning, and much more, most people start martial arts because of bullies.

Even when one is not the focus of a bully, simply witnessing a bully push another person around and put that person beneath them can cause many emotions, ranging from sadness to great and furious anger. Most people who have been the victim of bullying would admit that in those moments, they could have used a hero. Someone to swoop into the frame, put an end to the bullying and deal out the kind of beating that the bully will never forget, one that he or she will hopefully carry through life as a lesson to not take pleasure in physically or mentally torturing other people.

Sometimes a hero does come along, as seen in this video.

The video begins with boy pushing around a much smaller boy. He eventually pushes him to the ground, punching and kicking him. Suddenly, another boy puts an abrupt end to the bullying by striking the bully with a baseball bat. Not once, but four times, causing him to cry out in pain and fall to the ground alongside the boy he’d just punched and kicked, and in much worse shape.

Did the bat wielding hero go too far or is this how bullies should be dealt with?
