Traditional taxi cabs are generally built with a divider between the driver and passenger which provides protection to the driver, but Uber drivers use their own vehicles.
This means there is no seperation between the driver and passenger and in a situation that becomes hostile could become very dangerous for the driver.
There are many Uber drivers out there and there is a real challenge when it comes to their safety. You might have a drunk client or just a shady client in your car. You need to be able to establish a visual contact with the client prior his entrance or as he enters your car.
As soon as the client enters your car, the first thing you need to do is to scan the person from up to bottom. Is there something in his hands? Is he wearing a big jacket where he could conceal a knife?
What is your intuition telling you? What’s in his hands? What’s his behavior like? These cues are really important for your personal safety…Don’t ignore them.
