Listen to the modern day Wing Chun master as he answers an age old question; Should you allow someone to strike first in an encounter on the street?
Unfortunately, when approached by someone who has the intent to harm you outside of competition, you have to be more focused on when you’re allowed to legally begin defending yourself instead of being able to focus on your game plan on how to diffuse the situation in front of you.
Should you attack to insure your own safety, but risk being thrown in jail? Or should you wait for them to make the first move, which dramatically increases the chances of you being injured?

If someone has a knife in their pocket, the last thing you want is to give them the opportunity to unsheathe and use it against you. The dilemma being that it is impossible to know if they’re armed until they themselves decide to reveal that answer, but by then it may be too late for you to make a safe escape.
That is why we look to the one and only Master Wong for answers to the complex question at hand, and luckily for us he is as entertaining as he is knowledgeable!
Do you agree with what he has to say? How would you personally handle someone coming at you if you sensed potential danger, would you strike first or allow them to with the intent of countering? Let us know in the comments after watching the video below!
