In case you didn’t know already, this video will drive the point home: YOU DO NOT MESS WITH ISRAELI SPECIAL FORCES. This is a video of Israel’s badass special operations unit, Shayetet 13, showing off some of their Krav Maga training. Fighting an entire crowd at once? Yep, you got it. Disarming and subduing multiple enemies carrying deadly weapons? No problem. Make an enemy disappear in seconds while barely making a sound? Oh yea, they can do that too. We’re not quite sure what they’re saying in the interviews but it’s probably something along the lines of, “Don’t let your girlfriend watch this video or else she’ll see what a real man looks like.”
Sure, there are a few parts that look like a fight scene from a lame movie where everyone waits their turn to get their ass kicked by the hero, but this is just training. We have no interest in seeing what these guys do to their enemies in real life.
Shayetet 13 is a unit of the Israeli Navy and one of the primary special operations units of the Israel Defense Forces. Shayetet 13 specializes in sea-to-land incursions, counter-terrorism, sabotage, maritime intelligence gathering, maritime hostage rescue, and boarding. The unit has taken part in almost all of Israel’s major wars, as well as other actions. The unit is one of the most secretive in the Israeli military. The details of many missions and identities of active operatives are kept highly classified. The unit is respected as among the best of the world’s special forces, and is often compared to the US Navy SEALs and Britain’s Special Boat Service. Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing and wrestling, along with realistic fight training. Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks. It was derived from street-fighting skills developed by Hungarian-Israeli martial artist Imi Lichtenfeld. Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers, and aggression. Krav Maga has been used mainly by the Israel Defense Forces’ special units and reconnaissance brigades and recently by regular infantry brigades, and several closely related variations have been developed and adopted by law enforcement and intelligence organizations, Mossad and Shin Bet.
