Every self-defense situation is different and no one technique is guaranteed to work, but there more you know, the better your chances escaping a potentially dangerous situation.

In this video, Wing Chun expert Master Wong shows how to deal with a common self-defense situation where an aggressive person has grabbed you by the throat.

His training partners asks Master Wong what you can do when someone attacks you like that and he responds famous ‘You’re f*cking dead’. Master Wong first explains that he trains a lot on tensing his neck muscles, which can make this attack less effective.

Next shows how to counter by first grabbing the wrist of your opponent’s choking arm and then delivering a strike to the chest. He then recommends a ridge hand attack to the neck, then grabbing your opponent and delivering a knee strike to the groin or mid-section.
