The art of street defense is a beautiful, but complicated one. There are countless different variables that can completely change how you are forced to approach to the situation that is before you.

One common question that is brought up when discussing the subject is whether or not body shots work in a street fight, could they possibly be the technique that allows you to exit the conflict unscathed?

Well, the answer to that popular question depends on who you are, who your opponent is and what it is you’re looking to accomplish when defending yourself.

If you’re looking to insure you don’t find yourself in any legal trouble, a body shot, although highly effective, will more than likely not leave any visible bruising or physical evidence that can be used against you.

If the person who is attempting to harm you has proven to have a solid chin, digging a hook into the liver may give you the one shot stopping power you need to put them down once and for all.

If you have sensitive hands that you would like to prevent damaging, the body is a much softer target than the skill. Which raises your chances of leaving the conflict without damaging the tools of which you used to damage your opponent.

These are just a few of the positive things that can come out of using a swift yet powerful strike to the body. Don’t forget to check out the video if you want to see all of the potential dangers of throwing body strikes!
