Performance enhancing drugs (PEDs for short) are huge issue in professional mixed martial arts and recently some high profile athletes have failed drug tests. For Firas Zahabi, coach of former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre, the issue is serious and could have dire consquences in the future:
When speaking with the Montreal version of La Presse (via MMA Fighting), Zahabi detailed a grim and catastrophic incident possibly occurring and ruining everything MMA has worked so hard to achieve in the mainstream sports world:
It’s unbelievable that they let them fight. Me personally, I would like the sport to be cleaned up. Because one day, a guy is going to die in the Octagon and we’re going to find out that the guy who killed him tested positive after the fact.
