A Casper man pleaded guilty Wednesday to writing bad checks to several fighters who participated in a mixed martial arts event he promoted.
Jonathan Alexander, 50, entered the plea as part of a deal with prosecutors. Under the terms of the agreement, legal proceedings against him would be dismissed if he completes probation.
He would also have to pay more than $10,000 to his victims.
Prosecutors began to investigate Alexander after the checks he’d written to several fighters were returned for lack of funds.
In an interview with a detective, Alexander said he promoted an April 2009 event that didn’t earn as much money as he had anticipated because of a blizzard, according to a police affidavit.
