The WWE and the UFC are not entirely polar opposites. There is some fan crossover between the WWE and the UFC. There is some technique crossover between the WWE and the UFC, particularly on the mic. And very occasionally, there is performer crossover. Once it went really well

Once it went really well. Former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar famously won the UFC heavyweight championship in just his fourth fight. On Saturday, it did not go well.

CM infamously entered the UFC and then decided to start training. At UFC 203 he looked like a one stripe white belt vs. a brown belt, astonishingly.

CM Punk is a long-time fan of the UFC. At UFC 148 on 2012, challenger Chael Sonnen tried a spinning backfist on Anderson Silva, and slipped, and that was that. Punk and Sonnen are long-time friends. The following week, Punk and Daniel Bryan worked the Sonnen loss into their exhibition bout.

Now that CM Punk has moved to the UFC (at least for one fight), it appears that the pattern of mimicking action in the Octagon has repeated, but this time, Punk was on the receiving end of the troll.

It happened on Sunday, the day after UFC 203, on Backlash. The Miz plays the role of CM Punk, with the victor, Mickey Gall, played by Dolph Ziggler.

Here is the real thing:

The takeaway is that there are lots of performers in the WWE with an extremely good record in combat sports, who would in all likelihood do fine in mixed martial arts. CM Punk just isn’t one of them.
