WV Doo Doo Plata developer shows admirable sense of humor
“I didn’t tap from the guillotine choke, I tapped because I didn’t want to get it on him. I was a little embarrassed at first, but then I got backstage…”

It has been a crappy month for MMA. Early this week, a large woman barged into Urijah Faber’s house, and went on the bathroom floor.
And early this month at Ruckus in the Cage in Beckley, WV, Travis “The Brown Bomber” Wolford tapped out while in a guillotine applied by Daniel Cooper. Normally a fighter in a Guillotine taps out to, well, to a Guillotine.
In this case though, it was due to a kind of Reverse Doo Doo Plata.
The amiable Wolford appeared recently on ‘The Brutally Honest Show’ with Aaron Tru and talked about the accident.
Honestly, I’m just going with the flow, taking it all as it comes,” he actually said, as transcribed by BJPenn.com.
I tried to hold it in as long as I could, but it just didn’t work out too well. I just let it ride. That’s when I tapped, when we rolled over. I didn’t tap from the guillotine choke, I tapped because I didn’t want to get it on him.
I was a little embarrassed at first, but when I got backstage the guy I fought was waiting for me and shook my hand and said good fight. It got me thinking, ‘you know what s— happens, just go with it’.
In a near surreal moment, former UFC heavyweight Tim Sylvia reached out. Big Tim himself suffered a similar infamous moment in The Octagon.
No he didn’t call me, but I did get a message on Facebook from him, saying just to go with it man,” said Wolford. “Do what you got to do and get back in there, don’t let it get you down.
What happened is kind of embarrassing, but Wolford is a good dude, and has handled the whole thing with admirable aplomb. And he’s right – $#!^ happens. So let he who is without $#!^ cast the first meanie remark.
