Woodley, Brown in bitter Twitter quarrel over Conor McGregor
Matt Brown and Tyron Woodley got bitter on Twitter over Conor McGregor potentially getting a title shot vs. Robbie Lawler, if he gets past Nick Diaz on Saturday night.
If UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor beats lightweight Nate Diaz at welterweight on Saturday, then he hopes to fight welterweight champion Ronnie Lawler at UFC 200 in July.
Top welterweight Matt Brown likes the sound of it.
“I can understand them giving it to Conor,” said Brown said on a recent Great MMA Debate podcast, as transcribed by David St. Martin for MMA Fighting. “He’s the money man. That makes sense. Woodley, he shouldn’t even be getting a title shot. This guy, he beat Kelvin Gastelum and he didn’t even beat Carlos Condit. His last fight was Gastelum. That’s a f***ing joke. He’s just a business man. Just trying to play the business and not actually fight and earn it like other people are.
“If Conor beats Nate, there’s no reason he shouldn’t be able to fight for whatever title he wants. He’s the money man.”
Tryron Woodley was not impressed. Woodley is currently waiting for a title shot vs. Lawler, since beating Kelvin Gastelum via Split Decision in a catchweight bout back on January 31, of 2015.

So to recap, two top contenders at 170 are fighting over what may happen with 145 champ Conor McGregor. If McGregor beats Diaz, he will get that title shot at Lawler.
And he could win.
