Well, UFC 189 got one piece of good news today, at least.
With John Hathaway (17-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) out with an injury, Gunnar Nelson (13-3-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has a new opponent: Welterweight Brandon Thatch (11-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC).
Thatch was scheduled to fight John Howard (22-11 MMA, 6-6 UFC) on the preliminary card. Instead, Howard now will meet Cathal Pendred (17-2-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC).
UFC officials announced the new bouts today. Nelson vs. Thatch will take place on the main card; Howard vs. Pendred will be on the prelims.
