Chael Sonnen was suspended for two years, after multiple violations of the rules around Performance Enhancing Drugs. He then announced his retirement from mixed martial arts.

Not everything Chael Sonnen says is actually factual. The suspension is nearing the halfway mark. And the fighter is 38, the same age as Vitor Belfort who fights for the UFC middleweight championship on Saturday. Thus this is a reasonable juncture to ask whether Sonnen will return next year.

On Wednesday’s UFC Tonight Ariel Helwani reported that Sonnen’s management is split on the issue. Manager Mike Roberts believes we have not seen the last of the bad guy. However, his other manager, Jeff Meyer, was reported to be dubious.a

Sonnen would have to reapply for a license before the Nevada Athletic Commission if he wants to fight again.
