@BellatorMMA and @ScottCoker get Jansen’s walking papers ready please. April 10th I’m going to retire him. #dontpokethelion

Bellator MMA champion Will Brooks spoke recently with Mike Bohn for MMAjunkie ahead his fight with Dave Jansen at Bellator 136 on Friday. When Brooks heard Jansen’s KO prediction, the champion sad says he wants to beat Jansen out of the sport.

I see a lot of his fights where he’s throwing big overhand rights and left, and he’s connecting on these guys who aren’t even moving,” said Brooks. “How is he going to say he’s going to knock somebody out when he can’t even bust a grape? That’s ridiculous. Then he went on to say how he’s going to knock me out because of what he saw in my previous fights from years ago. It kind of got under my skin. It shows his lack of awareness and his lack of evolution physically and mentally. You don’t recognize anything going on around you. It’s one of those things that got to me.”

I’m going to be devastating and all over Dave Jansen from the get-go. He’s going to have to beg and really work hard to take me down or lay on me or something – just anything to keep him out of danger or hope to knock me out. He’s going to be in trouble from the first bell all the way to the last bell or wherever it ends in between. It’s going to be a world of hurt for him, and I want to make him consider giving up the sport.

Jansen, on a seven fight win streak that included the Bellator Season Seven Lightweight Tournament, told Hunter Homistek for B/R that he’s better in every way.

“He has strong striking, strong wrestling and he’s super confident in himself,” said Jansen . “These are all virtues I feel I possess even more so than him. I see holes in his game I’m looking to exploit—mentally and physically—and I just have the right people around me. I feel like I am the right person to get this job done and take the belt back to Portland with me.”
