Andre was a giant, but The Undertaker is not an undertaker, Big Van Vader’s first name isn’t Big, and The Iron Sheik isn’t a sheik. Pro wrestling is fake.

Chael Sonnen borrows his heel act from pro wrestling, but it’s as real as Mark Henry and Mae Young having a baby hand. Don’t tell anyone, that would ruin it.

Bellator MMA Moneyweight Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal spoke recently with Marc Raimondi for MMA Fighting and explained why he will never fight Sonnen.

In 2012 following ACL surgery, Lawal suffered a staph infection so severe it nearly took his life. He needed 14 surgeries in all. To set the scene, although Lawal looked up to Sonnen as an amateur wrestler, the two weren’t that close.

When I was sick, he hit me up out of the blue and was like, ‘If you’re hurting for money or anything, if you need help, I got you. I’ve got money put aside. I can give you money to pay your bills,’ said Lawal. I didn’t need it, but I was like, ‘Thanks, bro.’ The fact that he reached out to me like that was shocking. Me and Chael are cool, but just for him to put himself out there to help me, not many people would actually help people.

People help people, but when they do it’s like a feel-good story. Chael came out of the blue. And you know what the funny thing is? When it was all said and done, no one knew but me. And I put it out there, like ‘Chael did this for me.’ … He never said nothing. Still to this day, he don’t bring it up; I bring it up.

Lawal fights Satoshi Ishii at Bellator 169 on Friday night in Dublin, Ireland. Then he wants the winner of Fedor Emelianenko vs. Matt Mitrione, which takes place at Belltor 172 on February 18, 2017, in San Jose, California.

Sonnen makes his league debut vs. Tito Ortiz at Bellator 170 on January 21 in Los Angeles, California.

Chael is a solid dude and I hope he beats the f*** out of Tito Ortiz, said Lawal.
