UFC president Dana White is something like a big city mayor who once in a while joins the sanitation engineers in the sewers. In mixed martial arts, that would be interacting with hardcore fans on the Internet.
Following the UFC Fight Night 118 main event between Donald Cerrone and Darren Till, an impressed White declared the undefeated Till’s win not a fluke, but the future.
Fans on social media initially reacted positively, then lit into each other, and eventually tore into the UFC boss as well, accusing him of, well, everything. Despite receiving hundreds of millions of dollars last year for his percentage of the UFC, and speaking regularly with the president of the United States, White is still not above lambasting trolls on the Internet.
“SHUT THE F*** UP U PUSSIES!!!!!! This kid just put on an unbelievable performance against a f***in legend and BAD ASS MOTHER F***ER IN Cowboy Cerrone,” wrote White. “When fighters step in they win or they lose. Cowboy has been on both sides and showed total class as usual and praised Darren Till too. You people on social media are the biggest cryin f***in pussies I have ever seen. I love Cowboy. He fought and lost tonight. It happens so SHUT THE F*** UP!!!!!!!”
There have been suspicions that sometimes when White posts on social media it is an assistant. That was Dana. And he was absolutely accurate that Cerrone shows characteristic class in defeat.
“One hell of a job Darren Till,” wrote Cowboy. “Safe to say you broke the fuck out my nose!!! I don’t make excuses nor will I ever. You had a great game plan and executed it perfectly. I did not overlook nor take you lightly. So again congratulations.”
Whether or not Darren Till is the future will be determined definitively in time, but in the meantime, follow him on Instagram. He’s the future.
