Today in a story realeased by the LA Times, UFC President Dana White expressed that he was confident that a rematch with Johny Hendricks would be the next fight for Georges St-Pierre and that St-Pierre is actually not taking time to step away from MMA:

As far as a rematch, we’re on schedule and I’ll have a date within a couple weeks, White said. I feel confident that Georges is fine with that and all is on track.

It is unsure at this time the exact time-frame for the rematch, but it is likely that White and St-Pierre will meet in the next several weeks and figure it out.

In the heat of the moment following his UFC 167 bout, St-Pierre stated that he had personal issues that would need him to step away from MMA for a while. Which of course got Dana White fired up, and the media would attack him for statements he made about St-Pierre’s situation. However, his statements were mostly misconstrued, and looks as though everything with St-Pierre has been worked out.

Regardless of St-Pierre’s situation, Johny Hendricks himself earned a lengthy six month medical suspension following their bout, but could be cleared by an orthopedist earlier with a clean report of his right knee. St-Pierre only received a 45 day suspension.

Either way, it looks like this rematch will happen and will likely be one of the most anticipated bouts of 2014.
