Former UFC featherweight champion is one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, but he may be without a fight. He lost his title to Conor McGregor, in 13 seconds.

McGregor is now stepping up to 155, while retaining his 145 title, and fighting lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 196. Next McGregor will defend his featherweight title in July at UFC 200; the front runner is Frankie Edgar.

Aldo is not impressed, via Instagram.

“Hi everyone, I was quiet for a while because I was waiting for my rematch based on how the fight went down,” wrote Aldo. “In fact I was already training for it, but apparently I was wrong. So I wanted to make something clear to UFC: for everything I have done, everything I have accepted and mostly how the fight ended, I will not accept any other fight other than a title shot. My only exception would be fighting the notorious, at any time, anywhere, and once that he is scary and knows that I’m gonna win …. Doesn’t have to be title fight against him. Keep my belt, but I wanna whoop ur ass anywhere.

“@danawhite @lorenzofertitta @ufc keep ur word. I still believe in the company that I work for. #rematch.”

UFC president Dana White appeared recently on the Opie and Anthony Show and addressed the issue.

Conor McGregor Retail Appearances

McGregor’s desire to bounce between featherweight and lightweight, let alone his suggestion at a trip to 170 lbs, means that there is no scarcity of call-outs from the UFC roster.

Jose Aldo, McGregor’s most recent conquest, issued a succinct ultimatum to the UFC in which he claimed that either a title fight or a rematch McGregor would be the only ones that he would accept.

“Well the problem is that’s what everybody’s saying now,” said White, as transcribed by Joe.co.uk. “From flyweight to heavyweight, they all want to fight Conor McGregor. It’s the money fight.”

White was asked whether Aldo deserved a rematch.

“It’s one of those things,” said White. “We made the fight the first time and he got hurt and had to pull out. Then we made it again and it ended in 13 seconds. It’s tough to make that fight again right away.”
