White: Nurmagomedov treated horribly at hospital
“He should’ve gone to Valley Hospital, he should’ve been with Doc D, Doc D would’ve got him right in. They would’ve checked his vitals; they would’ve seen where he was.”

The most anticipated fight at UFC 209 for the hardcore fanbase was Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight title. Unfortunately, The Eagle suffered undisclosed problems related the weight cut, and went to the nearest hospital. He was immediately given an IV and the fight was effectively canceled at that point.
At the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White lamented that the fighter and his camp did not go through proper UFC medical channels.
What would’ve been different was if he would’ve called Dr. [Jeff] Davidson or Brianna [Mattison], the two who handle the medical stuff for the UFC, said White, as transcribed by Milan Ordoñez for BE. Apparently, he was treated horribly at Sunrise Hospital. That’s no shock. He should’ve gone to Valley Hospital, he should’ve been with Doc D, Doc D would’ve got him right in. They would’ve checked his vitals; they would’ve seen where he was.
But when you walk into some random hospital here in Las Vegas, and they see the guy, they just start filling him full of fluids. That’s immediately what they do. They bring you in, they stick in the IV.
I’m not saying the fight could’ve been saved, but maybe it could’ve.
In positive news, Nurmagomedov reports via Instagram that his health is good.
“Whoever you are or whatever you do, you’ll get only what God prescribed for you,” he wrote. “AlhamduliLlah for everything God gifted me for my 28 years, I got much more than I asked. I know that many people was waiting for this fight and I fail them. Want to bring my apologies for all my fans, UFC and my opponent Tony. My health is fine now, thanks God. These tough testing only makes me stronger. Thank everyone for the support.
