UFC President Dana White definitely not like the President of any other sports organzation. White is active on social media, does tons of interviews, and often speaks first and then thinks later. Those qualities have made him the perfect person to run the UFC, but also got him in hot water several times.
Whether you love him or hate, Dana White has been an innovator since he tooks the reigns in the UFC and this year the Sports Business Journal recognized him for that:
UFC President Dana White, for all his brash utterances and bullish attitudes as the driving front man of the Ultimate Fighting Championship organisation, is modest when it comes to personal success.
But he was humbled after being named the most innovative person in sport by leading industry publication Sports Business International.
Sports Business International subscribers, along with an expert judging panel, awarded White the title of Sports Innovator of the Year 2013.
White topped the list of 20 people that have made the most significant, original and insightful business decisions in the past 12 months, which also included Jay-Z, Bernie Ecclestone and Seb Coe.
The leading industry publication recognised White and the UFC’s innovative commercial strategies including the launch of a new global series in 2014.
